ADIARI FARM PROJECT (AFP)

Stichting CENDDOW works largely in partnership with Adiari Farm Project (AFP); as a local partner.  AFP was formed in Nigeria in 1999 as a female-based non-profit organisation.  The women’s group is led by mostly female school teachers whose passion started on their poverty-stricken pupils and students from the real poor and deprived Nigerian families.

Apart from their teaching career jobs, these women have been assets to the levels of National government in the part they play in census, elections, and other essential national duties.

Manifestly, AFP is led by women with profound experiences on tackling poverty through grass root economic participation. AFP demonstrates strong commitments to humanitarian services. Our relief works are directed at helping the unemployed women, especially mothers to engage in income generating activities, which will help them support their children’s education.

Over the years of AFP existence, the organisation has been able to reach out to underprivileged women both at the city slumps and around rural communities cut off by extreme under-development.

AFP thoughtful approach has been through reaching women in their respective women’s associations in their various communities. They have assisted many women’s groups in building some form of economic advantages in their associations. AFP remains active in helping to organize local women’s associations in making monthly contributions to support their jobless members start petty trading. Their substances also include financial literacy; teaching the less educated rural women on how to record their proceeds and improving their sense of spending. Rural Women in AFP network and partnership are having improved means of income to support their families and most importantly, their children’s education.
